Fox Hunter Car Park
Great spot, with carpark and a nice walk to the Blorenge.
Machen Mountain
Great spot, approximately 1200ft ASL. 2m is useless here however, due to QRM from the adjacent mast. Come up through Risca, then take the road behind Crosskeys. Just after the playing grounds as you head north, left turn under dual carriage way. Follow road all the way up until farm, and double back onto moors through the yellow gate up to the masts.
Mountain Air Car Park
This small carpark has a great take off for Taunton and around to Gloucester. Perhaps Birmingham direction as well. Time will tell. The mountain behind blocks Cardiff and the majority of the Welsh valleys unfortunately.
Mynydd Llangatwg
Flat open area when you get up there, 1700+ft ASL. Plenty of lay-bys to park in. No QRM on HF or 2m/70cms.
Catsash – Coed-y-Caerau Lane & Caerlicken Lane
A great spot for take off towards the West Country, Newport, Cwmbran, Cardiff. 600+ ft above sea level, and a small lay by at the top of Caerlicken Lane to park in.
